LITTLE LEGENDS POLICIES

Our Family Handbook outlines essential policies that help ensure a safe and positive experience for all children in our program. Some key policies include attendance requirements, health and safety procedures, and communication expectations. To review the full range of policies, enrolled families can request a copy of the handbook in person.

Child Illness Policy

Picture

If your child develops any of the following symptoms or conditions while at Little Legends Learning Center, Inc., we will contact the parent or guardian to arrange for your child to be picked up.

Your child must be picked up within one hour of contact. If we cannot reach a parent or guardian within 15 minutes, we will begin contacting emergency pick-up contacts.

The following symptoms in any combination may prompt a teacher to contact you:

a stuffy or runny nose, watery eyes, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, unusual behavior (e.g., being unusually cranky, less active, more crying, loss of appetite, severe headache, or stomach ache),

fever (101°F rectally or orally, or 100°F auxiliary),

vomiting (must be free of vomiting for 24 hours),

diarrhea (2 episodes in 2 hours or 4 episodes in 3 hours if diagnosed with chronic bowel syndrome).

Your child may return to the center once they have been symptom-free (unmedicated) for 24 hours.

Cut off Drop off Time

Picture

Little Legends Learning Center has a daily cut-off time for drop-off at 9:30am to support our teaching and kitchen staff. This policy ensures children are present for the full educational day.

If your child has a scheduled appointment, we are flexible but request that you notify us 24 hours in advance. This allows us to include your child in the lunch count and ensure classrooms are appropriately staffed.

Drop-off after 9:30am is not permitted unless prior arrangements are made with a member of our administration team.

Please be aware that drop-offs are not permitted during nap time to ensure a peaceful and uninterrupted rest period for all students.

Holidays

Picture

Little Legends Learning Center will be closed on the following holidays:

New Year’s Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Black Friday
Thanksgiving
Christmas Day
President’s Day (in-service training for staff only)

Should one of these holidays fall on a weekend, the Monday or Friday closest to the actual day will be the observed holiday. You are still required to pay for a full week. Make-up days for holidays and occasional absences are not permitted.  Little Legends will have reduced holiday hours of 7:00am-5:00pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

In addition, we will be closed for one staff development/preparation day per year. The date will be announced in advance. There may be other infrequent special occasions when we close to allow staff to attend early childhood education conferences.

Withdraw from Care

Picture

To withdraw your child from Little Legends Learning Center, you must fill out a Two Weeks' Written Notice Form and return it to a director.

Without this notice, you won't be eligible for a deposit refund. If your child is withdrawn, re-admission will depend on space availability and other enrollment criteria.

If re-enrolled, you'll need to complete a new agreement at the current rate, pay a new non-refundable registration fee, and clear any outstanding balance before re-enrollment.

For current families, the rate is $12 per hour for part-time children or siblings, with a $40 registration fee for the second child. No registration fee is required for third or additional children.

Allergies & Intolerances

Picture

We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL. Parents may not bring any food items to Little Legends Learning Center, Inc. that contain nuts.

If your child has any allergies or intolerances, please follow the steps below:

ALLERGIES:
1. Allergy must be diagnosed by a physician.
2. Obtain a doctor’s note AND an Action Plan form as well as any medication that pertains to the treatment of the allergy. Speak to the directors to discuss the Action Plan and submit forms (a copy will be shared with the classroom teachers).
3. If your child has an EpiPen, be sure the expiration date is current. While the child is in our care, an EpiPen must remain with the child at all times.
4. Parents must review the menu each month for possible reactive foods. ***If your child has severe allergies that are not conducive with our menu, we require that parents provide lunch and snacks (am & pm) to be served to their child. This will be determined at the discretion of the directors. Tuition will not be reduced to accommodate these needs.

It is the center’s policy, per DCFS, that a doctor’s note is required for outside food to be brought into the center. Information about children with allergies will be privately posted in all classrooms for staff viewing only.

INTOLERANCES:

A doctor’s note indicating an intolerance must be provided. Families must provide a substitute product (e.g., lactose free milk). The product must be unopened and sealed. The product must be labeled with the child’s name and classroom. Once opened, the product must be dated and can remain at the center for 7 days. The remaining product will be sent home after 7 days of being opened and a replacement must be provided.
